I’ve been rehabbing my latest running setback (adductor tendonitis, a particularly uncomfortable malady) by biking. But in search of something that will approximate running, I’ve discovered I can run steps without aggravating my injury. The best steps in my neighborhood are at the cemetery.
The view from the bottom can be intimidating.
But once you get to the top and turn around, it’s worth the trip.
Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Even more true in the cemetery.

Love this!! So many wonderful people lay in rest there . . . Debbie Hall Bliss, Mitzi Fizer White, Greg Isaacs, David McCoy . . . Hope you heal quickly!

I ran those steps a number of times back in high school, part of my short-lived track tenure (which would make a decent short story one day). It is interesting to be at the top in terms of perspective. Maybe even enlightening. Thanks for the reminder, Joe. Incidentally, I’m coming out of a hip setback that has kept me off the bike for a week. Sorry to hear about your injury.

Thanks, Andy. The biking has given me respect for what you and Larry do. I try to get 6 or 7 hard miles in over my lunch hour. Can’t imagine riding like you guys do. Hope your recovery is swift.

I was just reading about your injury. Mine seems similar. I know that my hip is going, due to knees/limping/hobbling. But I’m wondering if I didn’t strain or tear that medius/minimus tendon getting off the bike (tight) 9 or 10 days ago. I was only able to walk my steps – using my left (affected) leg yesterday. For a few days I couldn’t lift my foot off the floor, nor would my hip allow me to sit without high pain.

Sounds like yours is more serious than mine.

Yeah, living in the mountain state does have its advantages! Be careful in the city.
