You ever get ill at ease, said Rawlins.
About what?
I don’t know. About anything.
Sometimes. If you’re someplace you aint supposed to be to be I guess you’d be ill at ease. Should be anyways.
Well suppose you were ill at ease and didn’t know why. Would that mean that you might be someplace you wasnt supposed to be and didnt know it?
What the hell’s wrong with you?

This is great writing. It says something serious – about the characters and about life – but I can’t read it without laughing.

It captures the essence of that feeling you get when something’s bothering you and you either don’t know what it is or you have difficulty expressing it. That happens to me a lot. And there’s always someone to play the role of Grady.

Yeah. And it tells you that Rawlins is probably feeling it right then and there and it tells you something about the easy intimacy of youth.
